Chinese Style Pork Patties

July 26, 2016

Meatballs and meat patties are a universal food, and we certainly love it in our household. This Chinese style pork patty uses everyday Chinese condiments for the marinade such as soya sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, Shaoxing wine and white pepper.

It goes so well with rice, noodles, salads and can even be made into a burger. It's quick too, from marinading to shaping to frying, it took just under 30 minutes.

For a tasty and super quick dip to go with the pork patties, I mixed Thai sweet chilli sauce with fish sauce and rice vinegar.

Japanese Green Beans with Black Sesame Sauce | By Yuki Gomi

July 19, 2016

A while back, I was invited to a Japanese cooking class with Yuki Gomi, where we made 4 simple Japanese dishes in around 1 hour. My absolute favourite was the green beans coated in black sesame sauce, so this is the first of the 4 recipes I'll be sharing with you guys.

Flesh and Buns Covent Garden | Creative Japanese Food Done Right

July 05, 2016

Flesh and Bun were one of the first restaurants in London to serve split steamed buns Asian style, long before Bao in Soho made them famous. Somehow, I never made it to Flesh and Bun until recently and I was completely bowled over by every morsel.

Part of the Bone Daddies empire, which has not impressed me what-so-ever, I didn't have high expectations for the food except for their famous s'mores.

But far from the food I'd tasted at Bone Daddies Ramen Bar and Shackfuyu, Flesh and Bun was on another level. It was authentic, creative, and flavours balanced so well they oozed finesse.  There were lots of creativeness in all the dishes from the sauce combinations to the pickles used and the desserts were just stunning.

On a girly night out, the 4 of us enjoyed the food so much that we cleared every dish and we had ordered enough to feed 6!

JUNE DEGUSTABOX REVIEW

July 01, 2016

Another month has flown by and June's Degustabox* couldn't arrive fast enough after I polished off May's goodies in a flash.

Bedroom Decor - Before & After

June 27, 2016

When we viewed our house on open day, the master bedroom was already decorated in neutral colours and we could easily see what updates we were going to do to it. I wanted our bedroom to be clutter-free, tidy and cosy. It's not quite finished yet since I still haven't got round to buying some prints to liven things up and I'm still searching for the right bed side lamp.

We have 3 alcove areas in the bedroom, and my mini home office is tucked away in one of them. We had a wardrobe built into the largest of the alcoves to fully utilise the ceiling to floor space and keep all our clothes hidden away.

Furnishing A Small Space

June 23, 2016

If you are tight on floor space, finding stylish and good quality furniture that will fit in is not always easy.

When we first moved into our house, I was initially going to use my parents leather sofa whilst we hunted for one that we liked, only to find out that the sofa would not fit itself into our tight hallway and through the living room door. We had to send the sofas back and knew from then onwards that any furniture we were buying for the house had to fit through tight spaces.

My Hong Kong Summer

June 20, 2016

Last year in July, I spent an amazing and deeply relaxing summer in Hong Kong. Thinking back to last summer fills me with wonderful memories and I'll always treasure it.

MAY DEGUSTABOX REVIEW

June 16, 2016

May's Degustabox* had me rubbing my hands in absolute glee. So much good stuff in this month's box!! And that's the best thing about a surprise snack box like this is that some months are just super exciting and every product has me drooling.

Most of the items in the box were favourites this month but nothing got me squealing as much as these Misfortune Cookies! Seriously, it's the best marketing I've seen in ages and totally grabbed my attention. I've already bought boxes from Pechkek's via Amazon for friends upcoming birthday who I will know appreciate the black humour. The cookies are pure black with a rude message inside and they taste really good. Crunchy with a vanilla hint.

Restaurant Story | An Incredible British Food Experience

June 14, 2016

The last time I ate and moaned my way through literally every course was at Sushi Tetsu, a tiny but phenomenal sushi bar in Clerkenwell. This time, Tom Seller's Restaurant Story did it, and moan away I did.

Every element of the dishes were so well thought out. They were full of finesse, flavours paired well with each other and encouraged each other to shine without being over-powering. The harmony of each dish was exceptional.

My Baby Shower

June 06, 2016

Hey guys, I've had yet another mini siesta on my blog.

I've been desperately working through a long to-do list since going on maternity leave at the end of May. I can't believe I'm 38 weeks already and the due date is only 2 weeks away! We cannot wait to meet our little guy but just hope he stays put for a while longer so that I can get  through some more of my to-do list (you guys can tell I'm a control freak right?!).
