We have been dreaming about going back to Japan for the longest time, ever since Covid stopped all our travel plans. 2024 is the year we finally make it back; it's Joseph's first time in Japan, Isaac's second time and the third time for me and G. Japan is somewhere you can go back to again and again, yet the same excitement and anticipation remains.

Top-9-Things-To-Do-In-Ishigaki-Okinawa-Japan

Aside from the insanely delicious food on offer in Ishigaki Island, the views around the whole island is just spectacular. There's plenty to do for families with young children/older children, couples, individuals and friends alike. Although we had 5 days in Ishigaki, there just wasn't enough time to do everything - which means we will need to come back again another time!

I had the time of my life eating Okinawan food in Ishigaki, some of which are completely unique to this sun filled island. Ishigaki beef, Ishigaki pineapple, purple sweet potato and sea grapes 'umibudo', just to name a few, are all must eats of Ishigaki in Okinawa. You'll be hooked once you try Okinawan food, which is distinctly different to Japanese food on the mainland.

There are many, many places I'd like to travel to in this world and the list is just endless. Isaac has already been very lucky and has visited Hong Kong, Macau, Bali, Japan, Vietnam and Italy in his tender 2.5 years. Watching him see new things and soak up new cultures gives me immense happiness and contentment, and I hope to always use travel to inspire and educate him.

Today is the big day! The wedding doesn't start until late afternoon, so we have time to get breakfast, chill on the beach and squeeze in an afternoon nap.

It's getting closer to the wedding day and we have more friends and the happy couple themselves flying in to join us today. We've got plans to have lunch at the highly recommended Balique by a couple of friends who had been before, and then it's a pre-wedding party at the almost-newly-weds villa.

We've booked a half day trip to see a cultural park nearish to our hotel. This was to satisfy me more than the others in our group as I wanted to feel like we actually got to see some of the culture in Bali, and not just spend the entire holiday hanging out in our hotel and at the beach.

Bali really is one of those places I've always wanted to go to for the longest of times and thanks to one of my best friends who decided to get married there in October last year, it was the perfect excuse to tick it off my bucket list. And not only did we get to enjoy 6 beautiful days in Bali, we also got to experience our first beach wedding which was just incredible.

Holidays abroad are definitely our main splurge but with me being a full time mum and all of us relying on G's income alone, we have to be really good with money throughout the year to save for all our holidays. We usually go to Hong Kong once a year to see our families, and this year, we're also going to Tuscany and Bali for weddings too.

Isaac has been lucky enough to go to Hong Kong 3 times already at the grand old age of 20 months old, and whilst the long-haul flight to Hong Kong is an eye watering 12-13 hours long (not to mention the hours spent travelling to and from the airports as well), being well prepared and organised with luggage makes a huge difference to anxiety and sanity levels in my experience.

Malaysia is one of those naturally amazing countries in South East Asia that has so much to offer. Sandy white beaches of Langkawi, the incredible hustle and bustle and tons of shopping in Kuala Lumpur, to Penang with all its mouthwatering food offerings.

Mykonos in Greece is well known for it's beautifully pristine beaches and has repeatedly been voted as a top summer holiday destination. It has been a hotspot for A-lists and celebrities since the 1960's thanks to its dreamy luxury villas, expensive yachts, award-winning restaurants and of course the legendary party scene.

Since I was not staying with my parents on our recent holiday to Hong Kong, I was going to take them on a mini break somewhere in Asia so that they had some time to bond with Isaac. But timing wasn't right and we couldn't make it, yet I was still wanting a mini break of some sort.

3 days in and we are really getting used to a beach life of sand, sea and blue skies. We've completely recovered from all the crazy walking since landing in Tokyo almost 2 weeks ago, but feeling sad that we only have another 2 days left in Okinawa and then it's back home to London.

After making the mistake of going to Maehama beach without refreshments yesterday, we start the day by stocking up in the convenience store outside our hotel. We've slept in and missed breakfast at the hotel but nothing the convenience store can't fix.
