Cheats-Way Egg Tarts (aka Dan Tat) Hong Kong Style

June 26, 2015

If you guys follow me on Instagram, you'll know I've been churning out egg tarts (and macarons) like there's no tomorrow. I've been promising this super easy recipe for a while, so apologies to those who have been waiting.

My very first attempt at egg tarts back in 2010/2011 were terrible. The pastry puffed up like crazy, resulting in the egg mixture slipping right underneath. I ended up with upside-down egg puffs rather than the HK style egg tarts! Thankfully, I've got a few tricks that ensure this never happens again.

Gü Pudding Paradise

June 21, 2015

On a foodie evening out with fellow bloggers Charlie and Etta, we ended up at for desserts after dinner.

The pop up Gü shop round the back of soho was opened for 2 days only, to launch and spread the word of their new individual serve pots rather than the twin packs we are used to. Thanks to Charlie who did this bit of detective work and insisted we should come here for desserts!

June 19, 2015

Where in the heart of London can you learn to make your own afternoon tea? Cookery School* in Little Portland Street does just that.

It's just around the corner from Oxford Circus and they offer all sorts of cookery classes, from learning how to make traditional Afternoon Tea to cooking seafood and baking bread. You also get to take home a mini folder with all the recipes.

Carribean at Rhythm Kitchen, Intu Lakeside

June 18, 2015

It has been years since I went to intu Lakeside, but now that our new home is closer this side of town, intu Lakeside and Bluewater are only a 20-30 min drive from me, making it a good shopping spot if I don't fancy going into London, or all the way to Westfields.

Gourmet Dining at Home with La Belle Assiette

June 16, 2015

Do you remember the last time you ate a meal that made you feel so blissful that you couldn't stop smiling for ages afterwards? This happened to me a few weeks back.

I'm not overly familiar with authentic Portuguese food, and with all new food experiences for me, I was keen to learn. This meant using my taste buds of course!

Scotch Eggs by Scotchtails, Borough Market

June 12, 2015

I've been meaning to try Scotchtails in Borough Market for ages, but always get distracted by Ethiopian Flavours. Finally, on a warmer day when cravings for something super hearty was diminished, Scotchtails was the lunch time pick.

Following on from the delicious Swedish meatball recipe by Bronte Aurell of ScandiKitchn, here's another amazing recipe she shared with us. Wobbly and ultra cheesy flan made with Vasterbottensost cheese. The homemade pastry was buttery and crumbly, holding all that cheesy filling together.

Cooking with Sweden's King of all Cheeses, Vasterbottensost

June 05, 2015

Scandinavian food and Swedish cheese is one that I don't know much about and when a cookery class combines both, of course I had to be there.

Vasterbottensost* is Sweden's king of all cheeses and it's unique taste is is what makes it so special. When I posted a photo of it on Facebook, a friend from Sweden immediately sent a big thumbs up. It's the real deal!

Tokyo Day 3 - Odaiba, Asakusa, Akihabara and Ginza

June 04, 2015

After an early start at Tsukiji market, it's only 1pm and we have plenty planned for the rest of the day.

We are in search for the skyrail to Odaiba after reading about it on B-Kyu. In fact, today is the day that we are tracing the footsteps of B-kyu and what they got up to whilst in Tokyo. I love these guys.
