Applebee's Cajun Fish and Prawn Wrap | Borough Market London Bridge

February 27, 2015

My love affair with Cajun goes back to my mid teens. Cajun chicken breast with a jacket potato and salad at the pub I worked in, earning a few pennies between my studies. It was probably fair to say a chunk of my wages went on lunch at the pub...

Lulu Macarons in 2014

February 23, 2015

At the beginning of 2014, I was averaging 100 macarons per month for Lulu Macarons. This may not sound like a large number, but a batch of 20-24 macarons takes me 3 hours to make. When the dreaded cracks in the shells form, this does mean wasted time and effort since I'm not happy dishing out my 'crack-a-rons'.

Cosy Winter Bedding

February 20, 2015

Tranquil yet cosy is how I like to think of my bedroom. One of the easiest ways to transform a bedroom and take it from season to season is as simple as changing the bedding.

I alternate between 4 sets, but recently I have been on the look out to add to my collection and especially as they have become a little worn out over the years. Since we are still in chilly winter mode, I love nothing more than the feel of cosy jersey or flannel as I'm snuggled into bed, and here's what I have my eyes on at the moment:

Innsbruck Grey Flannelette bedding set from Yorkshire Linen Co, starting from £17. The price is unbelievable compared with high street companies, and the cute snowflake prints on grey are adorable.

Happy Chinese New Year 2015

February 19, 2015

Happy Chinese New Year to my readers and everyone who is celebrating!
Gong Hei Fat Choi!

2015 is the year of the goat (or sheep), you can find out what's in store for you this year depending on your animal birth year. Chinese new year is a time to celebrate with lots and lots of food, and most definitely with family and friends.

Yauatcha | The Sweet Treats

February 15, 2015

There is no denying how pretty the cakes, macarons and chocolates are at Yauatcha, and the display they have on is truly drool inducing. Our 2hr session didn't really give us enough time to enjoy the desserts there, so after a bit of oogling at the dessert counter, we took a few home instead.

The macarons left us sadly underwhelmed, but the cakes really were something else!

Wow wow wow. Not only are they so intricately made and a pure work of art, they tasted absolutely divine too and gave my tastebuds a proper jingle. I have eaten countless cakes and desserts that look absolutely stunning, but fail so miserably on taste. Yauatcha ACED the looks and taste department, leaving sis and I seriously impressed.

Yauatcha | Dim Sum in Soho

February 05, 2015

Fine dining dim sum (or posh dimsum...) is not our regular hang out for a Sunday, but on this occasion, my brother insisted on treating us. Well if you must bro!

Having been before for dinner a la carte and not been overly impressed, I didn't have high expectations for the dim sum. Food aside, overall ambience and service is excellent and I would come back for this alone. Usually service and ambience mean nothing to me if the food is no good.

We were given 2hrs for our table booking, just about enough time for our table of 4.

Spending Ban | January Edit

February 01, 2015

One of the goals I've set for 2015 is to save as much as possible after a very expensive 2014. We bought our first home and spent a considerable amount to make it into our dream home. We also took a trip to Hong Kong in December, so January needed to be a month of recuperation as far as finances were concerned.

A spending ban was implemented; I set myself some rules and documented my daily spend in a spreadsheet to keep track.
