Hello London! A day of eating out again

April 26, 2021

Hello London! I finally, finally had a day of eating out again in London and I am unbelievably happy and content right now. It has been more than a year since I took a train out to London and what was quite a normal part of my life had become something that felt scary and foreign. This pandemic has changed and affected all of us in some way and to live with a bit of normality now feels rather strange.

Chinese Glutinous Sweet Potato Pancakes

June 23, 2020

Chinese Glutinous Sweet Potato Pancakes
Anything with glutinous rice flour in it, is an instant hit for me. I just can't get enough of that chewy, fragrant rice flavour and texture. My mum used to make a lot of desserts with glutinous rice flour and one of my favourites is her Chinese glutinous sweet potato pancakes.

Arôme Soho London | Artisan Bakery

February 10, 2020

Arôme-Soho-London-Artisan-Bakery
Arôme is a bakery by day and a Singaporean restaurant by night, opened by the same person who started up Rasa Sayang in Chinatown. Although Arôme's pop up residency on Frith street has now closed it's doors (7th Feb), it may be returning again on a new site so do give them a follow on Instagram, because their artisan pastries are just the most beautifully crafted ones outside of Paris.

Japanese Soufflé Pancake Recipe

January 10, 2019

Japanese-Soufflé-Pancake-Recipe
A very belated happy new year guys! I've definitely been MIA on the blog, December came round so quickly and the WHOLE month became Christmas month with baking, parties and so many outings. I hope you all had a fabulous festive break and ready for 2019 - I totally am! This year, my blog will be more focused on sharing recipes, great places to eat out in London and travel blogs. I'll be cutting back on home + lifestyle posts since I realised my real passion is food and I really should dedicate more time to it.

Chocolate Cupcakes with Matcha + Chocolate Icing

September 29, 2016

Instagram is just the place to go when looking for cake inspiration, but I wasn't originally going to make cupcakes with piped icing like this photo.

Instead, I came across this incredibly cute cactus cupcake and I couldn't wait to give it a go. How cute does it look?!

Cheats-Way Eton Mess Cake

April 19, 2016

Freshly baked homemade cakes are just the best, there is nothing that beats it. I'm in the camp for baking from scratch, but there are days when you just can't be bothered and this weekend was one of them.

Cheats-Way Egg Tarts (aka Dan Tat) Hong Kong Style

June 26, 2015

If you guys follow me on Instagram, you'll know I've been churning out egg tarts (and macarons) like there's no tomorrow. I've been promising this super easy recipe for a while, so apologies to those who have been waiting.

My very first attempt at egg tarts back in 2010/2011 were terrible. The pastry puffed up like crazy, resulting in the egg mixture slipping right underneath. I ended up with upside-down egg puffs rather than the HK style egg tarts! Thankfully, I've got a few tricks that ensure this never happens again.

Chia Seed Almond Coffee Muffins | Contributor Post on QTM

May 18, 2015

Coming down with the flu over the bank holiday knocked me out cold for a week, hence the lack of posts. It's taken another week just to get back into the swing of things, but I'm feeling more like myself and finally I am able to eat properly! Not being able to eat and keep food down, and with zero appetite for 6 days really did feel like torture.

But as soon as I got better, I made these delicious almond coffee muffins with chia seeds. I am a fan of flavoured lattes and when I had some left over almond coffee buttercream from a batch of macarons, I decided to use it up in some morning muffins.
