Chinese Pork and Leek Lettuce Wraps
The fifth and final recipe in this blog series "Chinese Food on a Budget: 5 Family Meals for £16.50" is this Chinese Pork and Leek Lettuce Wraps. It cost £4.25 to make, feeding a young family of 4 and with leftovers too. Rice is not included in the cost of this recipe, so you'll need to factor this in.
4 simple ingredients is all you need.
Slice the leeks and mince the garlic, then set aside.
In a pan, turn heat on high, add in 2 tbsp oil, the garlic and leeks. Sprinkle half a teaspoon of salt all over and cook for 4 minutes until the leeks have wilted and golden brown.
Push the leeks to one side then add in the pork mince. Break up the pork mince and let it brown or you can be lazy like me and just add condiments before breaking up. Season with oyster sauce, sesame oil, soya sauce, ketchup, Shaoxing wine and white pepper. Mix everything together and let it cook for a further 5 minutes.
Add a quarter cup of water to create a little sauce, then turn off the heat. Serve with rice and lettuce pieces as wraps, and a chilli sauce of your choice (optional).
Dinner is served for our family of 4.
These were the leftovers we had which were saved for lunch the next day.
