Mou Mou Club Hotpot/Shabu Shabu 牛涮鍋 | Hong Kong

Towards the end of my 2 weeks in HK, my bestie suggested Mou Mou Club [牛涮鍋] for hotpot as they had been to the Mong Kok branch earlier on in the week and loved it.

Mou Mou club is more of a Japanese hotpot - shabu shabu style, rather than traditional HK hotpot style, since paper-thin cuts of beef slices is the star of the show here. There isn't too much of a difference between the two though since these kind of shabu shabu joints adapt to the local tastes.

This time, we tried out the Olympic station branch. It was round the corner from where we were staying, we knew it would be quieter, meaning less waiting time. As soon as the doors opened at 6pm, we were in!

The menu comes in 5 choices for dinner, all of which are all-you-can-eat buffet style with a turnaround time of 90mins.

The $148 menu it is then. The $368 wagyu looked mouth watering, but we will save this for next time now we know that Mou Mou club is worth it! Choose your soup base and then you're ready to hotpot! We went for seaweed in one half of the hot pot and spicy kimchee soup in the other. The kimchee soup base was deliciousssss!

The beef was so fresh and deliciously marbled with the right amount of fat, and the buffet spread was full of choice. Lots of fresh veggies, different types of mushrooms, meatballs and fishballs (a must for HK style hotpots!) and a great choice of sauces, noodles, and even a salad bar.

The weirdest thing I ate in my entire trip happened at Mou Mou club. A tuna and sweetcorn filled fishball! It was nice and it was fun, but it was also pretty weird. Ha! See if you can spot the green fishball with a pointy tip.

There's also a dessert cabinet and frozen yogurt machine if you still have room after 70ish minutes of non stop eating.
The bill wasn't quite $148pp once service and add ons were added, more like $300pp, but still worth it for the amount of top quality beef and other stuff we ate. Mou Mou club got the thumbs up from all of us, and if you're in Hong Kong, I totally recommend it!
