Best Pie Ever | Pieminister, Brixton Village Market

I've been a long time fan of the pies at Pieminister* ever since tasting my first one at their stall in Borough Market many years ago. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that a new branch had popped up in Brixton Village Market, which I just love and only wished was closer to me.

There's 15 pies to choose from and pie-scream too - their very own soft serve ice cream sundaes made with fresh organic British milk and served in a waffle cone pie crust.

Everything on the menu looked delicious and we struggled to choose our favourites. We decided it would be best to choose 2 pies and share it half and half so that we didn't miss out!

Just look at the innards... Kate + Sidney (British beef steak, kidney and ale) was absolutely and incredibly delicious. Not only was the filling 100% amazing, the pie crust, mash and gravy was awesome too and I even finished off all the pie crust, which I generally leave.

Next up is the Free Ranger (free range British chicken, Wiltshire cured ham, leek and thyme) served with a side of coleslaw. The pie was also super tasty, but my heart was with Kate + Sidney. The coleslaw sadly didn't do it for us. Being just dressed in some olive oil in an otherwise heap of raw veggies and seeds was lacklustre and made us wishing we'd gone for another side.

Since it was a lunch occasion worth celebrating when you go all the way to the other side of London, we also ordered the mac n cheese as well as skin on fries. The mac n cheese was life changing!! I have never eaten a mac n cheese this good before. Guys, you need to give it a go. The fries were also fantastic.

And finally, dessert time. Isaac's eyes popped wide open when he saw the ice cream, and no amount of telling him to wait until mummy took a pic could stop his desires!

O.M.G. That ice cream is just amazinggggg! So milky and soft, yet creamy and so cold. It was super refreshing and I loved how it wasn't super sweet. The strawberry was definitely my favourite, so summery and palate cleansing. Honey bee with honey, pistachio and figs was an interesting combination but I was after some fruity zing which I got with the Strawberry Blonde.

We had such a good meal at Pieminister that I'm already plotting a return.
