APRIL DEGUSTABOX REVIEW

April's Degustabox* was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I really enjoyed a few of the items, but most were a straight up no for me. The extra drinks packed in this month also meant it seem like there were less snacks and cooking stuffs.

Starting off with my favourites as usual, here's what I got in my box and ate in a flash.

My Favourites:

Milkybar Milk & Crunchy + SMARTIES Sharing Block. What's not to love about these classic chocolates? The Smarties block is a milk chocolate bar filled with lots of crunchy Smarties, and the Milkybars are a fun cow shape with a creamy and crispy centre.

Garlic and Rosemary Popchips. I love the prospect of any sort of crisps in the boxes, and whilst I really enjoyed the flavour, the Popchips itself are a bit too sticky on the teeth. G demolished these though.

Bebeto Fruit Strings. I handed these out to the kids at a birthday party and they loved them! The strings are really fun to eat and I liked that they didn't taste artificial at all. They contain real fruit juice and are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Veetee Microwaveable Rice. These have become one of my favourite 'ding ding' meals and I love getting them in the boxes. They taste really good and so convenient for evenings when you just cannot be bothered to cook. I usually have these with some sort of leftover in my fridge, and the brown rice with quinoa is definitely a favourite that I'll be restocking.

The Others:

Parle G Biscuits and Rusks. The biscuits are filled with milk and wheat which is detectable but they didn't dunk well in my tea at all. They disintegrated within a micro second and when eaten on it's own, reminded me of the cheap biscuits you can buy in the 99p shops. As for the rusks, G loved them, but I have issues with cardamon so they weren't for me.

Canderel Sugarly. I rarely use anything diet or anything made with non-natural sugars, so I gave it away to a colleague who would make better use out of it.

Pimms English Cider, Rejuvenation Water in Apple and Mint, and Green Lady. The only drink I could enjoy out of the 3 was the Rejuvenation Water. I liked the pairing of mint and apple as it was quite refreshing. I'm not drinking alcohol since I am pregnant, but I'm sure the Pimms is very tasty!
The Green Lady is infused with rose and nutmeg which tasted pretty awful as a tea... a complete pass for me.

Levi Roots Jerk Coat n Cook Sauce. I've yet to try this sauce, but I plan to use this on chicken thighs and roast them in the oven for an easy mid-week dinner.

For £6.99 every month, Degustabox will send you 9-15 items of great food and drink to be enjoyed over the month, some of which can't be easily found in our supermarkets, so it's a great way to discover new things. Make sure you use the discount code BLDEG15 at checkout and only pay £6.99 instead of the usual £12.99!

Will you be trying a Degustabox?
