Travel + Wanderlust: More Makes Merry

Being able to travel freely is one of life's merry pleasures and nothing beats seeing the world through your own eyes and absorbing it all in. I mean who doesn't like to come home and share a travel story?! I love travelling and sharing my travel stories incessantly, recently with plenty of blog posts on Hong Kong and Japan, and in the past, Paris too.

More Makes Merry (a.k.a MMM) is travel website connecting travellers on global scale. Through their platform, you can discover how the world is travelling, find out about charities and non-government-organisations all of which add value to world travel.

Travelling has become so much more accessible to all over us in the past few years with flights/hotels/tours operating on huge price cuts, and whilst this is fantastic for us itching to travel, it sadly contributes to global environmental damage. Not only are we not adding value to the way we travel, we are taking away natural resources along the way.

In no better words than that of David Shekleton, founder of MMM, this is what it means to try and add some value back into the world and places we visit:

"I want to make it easier for us to be able to give back. I want us to be able to see who is adding value and where. It would be great if all of us could ensure that all travel destinations are left in the same, if not better condition, than we found it, be it its culture, environment, or economy.

Our site is for Travellers, Charities, NGO’s and Businesses to share their experiences with the world and to help add value into the travel industry, not just to squeeze every last drop out of it. It takes a holistic approach to worldwide travel, considering all things travel, including its impact - economic, ecological and cultural. Because, in order to have all these great places to go we need to keep them great and help others do them same. (You can't travel if you have nowhere left worth to go.) Anyone can sign up, anyone can share."

I have to be honest in saying that I've never thought about adding value to all the travels I do until I found More Makes Merry. The message really clicked with me and made me think beyond my own wanderlust.

For all of us to add value when we travel, it's really simple: Simply share this message, and if you want to go a step further, take part in How The World Travels - The More The Merrier, simply an awareness campaign.

  1. Very true we are always looking for the cheapest of everything and sadly that's what the majority care about these days since livings costs is getting more and more expensive. We don't think about the environmental damage and that we are taking away natural resources along the way....

    1. It's definitely good to be aware, but sometimes it take an awareness campaign like More Makes Merry to make us realise the impact.
