Roka | Canary Wharf | Weekend Brunch Buffet

[Main course, crab with wasabi roe on rice, like a very wet risotto/congee]

I had my birthday celebration at Roka in Canary Wharf this year, as a few of us were keen to try out their weekend brunch buffet. I'd been once before and the buffet spread was impressive so I had no problem going back again.

You can choose from 3 menus; £42/£54/£66 and you are not restricted to choose the same menu if you go as a group. All 3 menus come with Bellini on arrival, unlimited  iced green tea with passion fruit, and unlimited red and white wine. The wines differ dependant on which menu you choose and the £66 menu also includes champagne.

The starters are buffet style from the counter, and the main course is chosen from the menu. The dessert is a selection platter consisting of fruits, cake and sorbet.

[I start off with sushi]
[Cold udon]

[Tempura squid]

[Beef gyoza - these were outstanding!]

[Onto the hot starters]

[Assorted mushroom soup]

[White miso fish soup]

Roka's buffet starters are fantastic and we were stuffed before the mains even came! We decided to share our mains buffet style too and this was a great way to taste everything. Little plates of tempura squid and gyoza's were brought to our table as well, the beef gyoza's were amazing, full of flavour and and very juicy.

[Ribeye]

[Baby ribs]

[Spring chicken with miso and chilli]

[Fillet steak]

We really enjoyed our brunch here and look forward to coming back again. I would say that as the buffet starters are very filling, go for the £42 menu if you want to keep costs down. We didn't even finish all of our mains and as it was lunch, we didn't go crazy on the unlimited wine either.

You get a 3hr slot for your table and need a credit card to secure the booking and it seems that only the Roka in Canary Wharf does brunch.

[Happy birthday girl]
